What it is all about?
VALTERI consists of a network of State-owned special schools and a Swedish-speaking resource centre. The mission of Stateowned special schools is to arrange rehabilitation alongside special needs education and administer the development, consultation and support operations related to it (PL 39 §).
VALTERI supports implementing the inclusive education by • offering consulting and support services • increasing the accessibility of consulting and support services • developing the web-consulting services for educational and rehabilitation staff.
VALTERI is part of the The Finnish National Board of Education’s EDU.fi – teachers’ web services. What does VALTERI offer?
VALTERI-service network offers consulting and support services especially when the need for support is related to • autism spectrum disorders • language and communication • hearing • mobility and motor coordination • multiple handicaps • neurological illnesses or other chronic illnesses • vision
All VALTERI-centres offer the following common services • training services • material production • councelling and consulting (visits and distant) • short-term education and rehabilitation.
VALTERI-centres also develop and test other service forms, including • professional guidance • supporting discussions • various evaluation, therapy and rehabilitation services.
